FORT WORTH (July 5, 2014) Two Fort Worth firefighters escaped serious injury when part of a ceiling and roof collapsed as they battled a house fire.
Jimmy Gray, 44, and Dallas Murr, 39, were able to free themselves from the debris in the collapse Friday and crawled out of the kitchen area, Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Tim Hardeman said.
They were taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, where they were treated for possible head and neck injuries.
They were later released.
Fire officials say the fire destroyed a garage and burned off half the roof.
Five family members, two adults and three children, escaped unharmed.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
