Texas Game Wardens Arrest Dozens Of Intoxicated Boat Operators

AUSTIN (July 8, 2014) Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game wardens arrested 58 intoxicated boaters over the long July Fourth Weekend, the department said Tuesday.

Game wardens also filed 39 minor-in-possession cases and eight drug-related offenses, the department said.

The holiday enforcement effort came on the heels of the department’s participation in a nationally-coordinated crackdown called Operation Cry Water from June 27 to June 29 during which game wardens made 17 boating under the influence arrests and issued more than 1,100 citations.

“Our goal is to educate boaters as well as remove impaired operators from the water in order to keep all other boaters safe,” said Assistant Commander Cody Jones, the department’s boating law administrator.
