PASADENA (September 3, 2014) A 5-year-old Texas girl who was flown to a Houston hospital after she was discovered trapped inside a running washing machine at a self-service laundry is expected to survive, authorities said.
A customer found the girl inside the washing machine Tuesday at Le’s Washateria in Pasadena.
The youngster had been “tumbling pretty fast" for several minutes before she was rescued, police said.
Police didn’t know who the girl ended up trapped inside the machine or how it was started.
The manager told a woman who tried to use the machine earlier that the washer wasn’t working and returned her money, police said.
The laundromat owner says an employee used circuit breakers to stop the machine.
It's unclear who was watching the child.
Police are investigating.
