DONNA (October 28, 2013) Authorities in Hidalgo County were investigating Monday after a homeowner shot and killed two people who asked him about buying roosters then drew guns.
No charges were immediately filed in connection with the shootings near Donna, Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino said.
Authorities received 911 calls about gunfire Sunday night.
Deputies found one man dead on a road and a second person dead at a residence.
Trevino said preliminary information indicates the two people drove to the home, inquired about buying some roosters and then flashed guns.
The sheriff said the homeowner retrieved his own weapon and shots both individuals.
All three guns were recovered.
The names of the two people who were shot weren’t immediately released.
Autopsies were ordered.
