LEAGUE CITY (December 10, 2013) John Scott Timler, 55, of League City, was jailed Tuesday, charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the 2012 death of his mother whose body was found buried in the backyard of the family’s home.
Timler’s bonds total $175,000.
He was arrested Friday after he was named in a grand jury indictment.
In June 2012, League City police found the body of his mother, Joyce Annette Timler, 73, buried under freshly turned dirt.
Police were investigating suspicious withdrawals from the woman's account after bank officials couldn't reach her.
Investigators think the victim was choked to death.
John Timler pleaded guilty in January to forgery and was sentenced to 18 months in state jail.
