Texas Man Accused Of Setting Sleeping Roommate On Fire

LONGVIEW (December 5, 2012)--An East Texas man was charged after lighter fluid was used to set his sleeping roommate on fire following an argument, police said.

Jeremy Kellum of Longview was in the Gregg County Jail Wednesday charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

His bond was set at $250,000.

Raymond Hellwig suffered second-degree leg burns Saturday after lighter fluid was poured on his pants and set on fire, police said.

He was taken to a Longview hospital, and then transferred to the burn unit of Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

A Parkland spokeswoman says Hellwig was in fair condition Wednesday.

Police didn't immediately release further details on why the men argued.
