Texas Man Arrested After Crash That Killed Three

A 22-year-old Texas man was jailed Saturday, charged in connection with a collision that left three people dead.

AMARILLO (September 28, 2013)—Michael Blaine Kirk, 22, of Hereford, was in custody Saturday, charged with three counts of accident causing injury or death after a collision in the Panhandle that left three people dead.

Kirk, who’s held in the Potter County Jail Amarillo, was driving a flatbed truck that struck a Lincoln passenger car Friday afternoon, forcing the car, which was traveling in the same direction as the truck, off the road, police said.

The car struck a utility pole.

Three passengers in the Lincoln died.

They were identified as Vonnie Washburn, 87, Charles Washburn, Jr. 91, and Cheryl Dacus, 56, all of Borger.

The 58-year-old driver of the Lincoln was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
