ARLINGTON (September 25, 2012)—Thomas Olivas, 29, of Bedford was jailed Tuesday in Arlington, charged with capital murder in the 2011 deaths of his ex-girlfriend and the couple’s 1-year-old son, whose bodies were found in a burning apartment.
Arlington police say the couple had argued over child support issues.
Olivas was arrested Monday night at a bar in Hurst and was charged in the deaths of Mechelle Gandy, 26, and her son Asher.
Gandy was stabbed in the attack on March 20, 2011 and died at the scene of the fire.
The infant died as a result of the blaze.
