TYLER (November 1, 2013) A Tyler man suffered severe burns after his camouflage-like Halloween costume caught fire Thursday night.
Tyler Fire Department officials on Friday did not immediately identify the hospitalized man or update his condition.
Fire Marshal Paul Findley said the victim was wearing camouflage-type clothing that resembles foliage, commonly known as a ghillie suit.
Firefighters were dispatched Thursday night to a home in Tyler in response to a report of a man on fire.
Bystanders helped put out the flames and the victim was taken first to a Tyler hospital and then moved to a burn unit in Dallas.
Findley says investigators believe the fire may have been the result of smoking materials.
