NORTH RICHLAND HILLS (July 23, 2014) James Hollingsworth, 59, who was charged with injury to a child/recklessly by omission after his 20-month-old granddaughter died in a hot car, was free on bond Wednesday after turning himself in, police in North Richland Hills said.

Police say Hollingsworth gave his daughter a ride to work on April 22 and was supposed to take his granddaughter, Aurora, to daycare, but instead returned home with the girl in the car, police said.

Eight hours later, when he later picked up his 11-year-old grandson from school, the boy told him something was wrong with Aurora, police said.

Hollingsworth then called 911.
