Texas Man Charged After Grandson Found Dead In Burned Truck

SAN ANTONIO (November 22, 2013) Joel Soto, 51, of San Antonio was jailed Friday, charged with arson of a vehicle after his 2-year-old grandson was found dead in a burned-out pickup truck.

Soto, who was arrested on Thursday, is accused of starting the fire.

His bond was set at $150,000

The body of Jeremy Soto was recovered from the vehicle after the fire last Saturday.

Joel Soto said he raised the truck’s hood to check for possible engine trouble when a flash fire knocked him back, according to a San Antonio police report.

The report says investigators believe the fire could have started inside the vehicle and Soto's injuries were inconsistent with his explanation of the fire.
