Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday, rain stays with us, but should taper off by Sunday, the drier of the two days.
LONGVIEW (May 28, 2014) Kendrick Elliott, 22, of Lone Star, was in the Gregg County Jail Wednesday in lieu of $100,000 bond, charged with murder in the beating death of his infant daughter, who suffered a fractured skull and ribs.
An autopsy determined that 4-month-old Ja'Kavioenna Elliott died of blunt trauma to the head.
Kendrick Elliott's court-appointed attorney, Richard Hurlburt, said his client is the child's father, but had only recently been assigned the case and declined further comment.
The girl was taken to a Longview hospital in February 2013, but could not be revived.
Authorities say there were indications of previous fractures and scars on the child.
Longview police spokeswoman Debra Stiles says it's not clear what prompted the beating.
