PORTER (September 25, 2013)—Joseph Samuel Branstetter, 24, was jailed without bond Wednesday after his parents were shot to death at their Houston-area home in an attack witnessed by his 12-year-old niece.
Branstetter was charged with capital murder, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.
He was arrested Tuesday night at the scene of the shootings.
Investigators say the girl called 911 to report that her uncle shot her grandparents at the home near Porter and then drove away.
Deputies found the girl outside the house.
The body of Cathy Gibbs, 58, was in the driveway and her husband, Randall Branstetter, 54, was found dead inside the home.
Branstetter left after the shootings, but returned to the home and surrendered.
A gun was found in his vehicle, authorities said.
Authorities didn't immediately disclose a possible motive.
