Texas Man Convicted Of Killing Pregnant Wife Wants New Trial

HOUSTON (September 12, 2012)—Former Houston-area high school football coach David Temple, who was convicted of killing his pregnant wife, is asking for a new trial based on a potential new witness who has come forward.

In 2007 Temple was sentenced to life in prison for the 1999 shooting death of his wife, Belinda.

Temple's attorneys filed a motion Monday that points to a new witness identified only as "John Doe" who they say heard an alternate suspect admit to burglarizing the couple's home in Katy and firing a shotgun.

The motion also says prosecutors during the trial withheld evidence that points to the alternate suspect.

Kelly Siegler, who prosecuted the case, declined immediate comment Wednesday.

A judge in Houston scheduled an Oct. 1 hearing on the motion.
