Texas Man Convicted Of Passing Funny Money Sentenced To Prison

LUBBOCK (January 11, 2013)—Harley Graves, 29, was sentenced to more than three years in prison Friday in Lubbock for using a computer and recycled newsprint to make and fake money, which he then passed.

Prosecutors said Graves, of Lubbock, pleaded guilty in August to conspiracy to manufacture, possess and pass counterfeit U.S. currency.

Graves also must make $4,600 in restitution.

Investigators say Graves produced the fake bills in a hotel room.

Officers seized a laptop computer, a printer, glue sticks, stacks of paper and counterfeit currency.

Two other men charged in the case have been convicted and were sentenced last month to prison.

Investigators say the trio passed bogus money at restaurants and retail stores throughout Lubbock.
