Texas Man, Daughter Sentenced For Bank Robberies

DALLAS (May 7, 2014) John Charles Applewhite, 50, and his daughter Shelby Dawn Applewhite, 23, who were accused of robbing three Dallas banks, have both been sentenced to prison.

Charles Applewhite was sentenced this week to more than 15 years in prison for the holdups in May 2013 after pleading guilty in October to three counts of bank robbery.

Investigators said he was on supervised release for another holdup at the time of the 2013 robberies.

His daughter pleaded guilty in November to conspiracy to commit the three bank robberies.

She was sentenced to five years in prison in March.

Investigators say Shelby Applewhite entered the banks to check the layout, and then reported details to her father who donned a disguise and carried out the robberies.
