Texas Man Described As Anarchist Faces New Charges In Pipeline Bombing

Print

SHERMAN (February 20, 2013)—Anson Chi, 34, of Plano, whom authorities describe as an anarchist, is facing additional charges in an attempt to bomb a pipeline.

A federal grand jury has handed up a three-count indictment against Chi charging malicious use of explosive materials, use of a destructive device during a crime, and possession of a firearm that was not federally registered.

On June 18, 2012, a homemade bomb exploded on a natural gas regulator in Plano, but detonated prematurely and caused little damage.

The incident left Chi burned.

His lawyers have described Chi as "delusional" and he’s scheduled for a competency hearing in March.

He remains in custody without bond.
