SULPHUR, La. (November 27, 2012)--A two-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 about 3 ½ miles west of Sulphur, La., claimed the life of a Texas man and sent a Mississippi man to the hospital, Louisiana State Police said.
Sgt. James Anderson says Varghese K. Paily, 52, of Port Arthur, was driving east Monday when he switched from the middle lane to the outside lane to pass an 18-wheeler.
Anderson said Paily lost control of his Jeep and the vehicle began to rotate.
The Jeep struck the rear of a pickup driven by Richard D. Schneider, 63, of Waveland, Miss., which was parked on the right shoulder.
Both men were taken to a nearby hospital.
Paily was pronounced dead.
Schneider was being treated for moderate injuries.
