ABILENE (September 3, 2014) An Abilene man who was found dead in a bullet-riddled pickup truck Wednesday morning was evidently gunned down as he drove to work, authorities say.
Deputies found the man Wednesday morning after responding to reports of a truck stopped along U.S. 277, about a mile north of Abilene, the Jones County Sheriff's Office said.
The pickup had bullet holes in the doors and window, the sheriff’s office said.
Chief Deputy Danny Jimenez did not immediately release the name of the victim or say where he worked.
The death was ruled a homicide, Jimenez said.
Investigators checked with nearby businesses to determine if any security cameras may have recorded the shooting, which occurred in an industrial area.
