ARANSAS PASS (February 24, 2014) Tommy Crews, 33, of Aransas Pass, was jailed Monday in lieu of $10,000 bond after authorities say he was handling a gun while under the influence of alcohol and shot and wounded his 4-year-old son.
Crews was arrested Sunday afternoon on a felony charge of injury to a child.
Officers were sent to the family’s home on Feb. 14.
They found the boy with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The child was alert and able to communicate with officers after they arrived, police said.
Chief Eric Blanchard said officers also found drug paraphernalia at the home.
Crews told authorities he was "playing around" with his firearm, Blanchard said.
