Texas Man Jailed On Sex Charge Commits Suicide In Cell

CLEBURNE (August 14, 2013)—Jay Thomas Morgan, 50, of Arlington, who was jailed in Johnson County awaiting trial on a child sexual abuse charge, has committed suicide, authorities said Wednesday.

Texas Rangers will help investigate Morgan’s hanging death, the the Johnson County Sheriff's Office said.

Morgan was arrested July 31 on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of child/continued abuse of a young child.

Johnson County Sheriff Bob Alford said Morgan committed suicide Monday at the Johnson County Law Enforcement Center in Cleburne.

Sheriff’s Capt. Michael Gilbert said he had no additional information Wednesday on the investigation.
