DENISON (February 10, 2014) Investigators were trying Monday to determine whether a North Texas man wanted in the murder of his ex-girlfriend took his own life or froze to death.
Aaron Lynn Smith, 53, was wanted in the shooting death of Yvonne Gauthier who was killed in her home Thursday night near Denison.
Smith's body was found Friday afternoon in his pickup truck in Cartwright, Okla., sheriff’s Lt. Rickey Wheeler said.
Investigators believe Smith died from a mixture of pills and alcohol, or that he froze to death, or that a combination of cold, drugs and alcohol claimed his life, Wheeler said.
A rifle was recovered from the truck.
Autopsy results were pending Monday.
