CORPUS CHRISTI (May 2, 2014) A jury in Corpus Christi has sentenced a South Texas man with eight driving while intoxicated convictions to 70 years in prison in his latest DWI case.
Richard Vollick, 58, was also fined $100,000.
The most recent charge stems from an accident in December 2013 in which investigators said Vollick’s vehicle crashed as he exited the Harbor Ferry.
Another driver and a ferry worker watched as Vollick's vehicle hit some metal sign posts.
The vehicle’s gas tank was punctured in the crash.
The two witnesses went to help and found Vollick smoking a cigarette in a puddle of gasoline.
Vollick has DWI convictions in Nueces, Aransas and San Patricio counties.
