Texas Man, Woman Plead Guilty In Fake Payroll Check Scheme

TYLER (November 7, 2012)--Mark Alan McCullars, 44, of Marshall and Amanda Henderson, 23, of Longview are facing the possibility of long prison sentences after they pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud in a payroll scam involving the cashing of more than 100 fake checks.

Each could be sentenced to as much as 30 years in federal prison.

No date for sentencing has been set.

Authorities say McCullars and Henderson in May 2011 began creating bogus documents that appeared to be payroll checks from several businesses.

Investigators say the pair also created fake driver's licenses for use as identification at check-cashing companies.

Prosecutors say the scheme caused more than $55,000 in losses to check-cashing businesses.
