FORT WORTH (July 18, 2014) Rachel Hardy-Johnson and her husband, Dondre Johnson, the owners of a Fort Worth funeral home where eight decaying bodies were found earlier this week, were arrested Friday and charged with seven counts of abuse of a corpse.
The couple owns Johnson Family Mortuary.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office said seven of the eight bodies found Tuesday at the business were in advanced stages of decomposition.
The Texas Funeral Service Commission said it's investigating five separate complaints against the business.
The mortuary’s state license expires this month.
The Johnsons said they were tending to the bodies as they awaited burial or transportation for burial elsewhere.
