HOUSTON (November 23, 2013) A Houston mother and a man who was her infant’s primary caregiver have been charged in the death of a 5-month-old girl who suffered multiple fractures, head trauma and bruises.
Police identified the baby as Alyssa Cedillo.
The girl’s mother, Judy Cedillo, 20, and Leonardo Pereira, 27, described by police as one of the child's primary caregivers, were charged with injury to a child in the baby's death.
Cedillo was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond.
Pereira's bond was unknown Saturday.
By the time officers arrived Monday at a Houston home, the infant had already been transferred to a hospital.
She later died at Texas Children's Hospital.
