Texas Police Officer Shot During Traffic Stop

SAN ANTONIO (April 20, 2014) Robert Rendon, 31 of San Angelo, was held Sunday in lieu of bonds totaling $750,000 charged with three counts of attempted capital murder after a driver shot a police officer during a traffic stop, and then led authorities on a high-speed, multi-county chase.

Fredericksburg police officer Bradley Durst was hit twice when the driver opened fire as he approached a car he pulled over at around 1:40 a.m. Saturday.

The driver fled with police in pursuit and fired shots at the officers who were pursuing him.

The chase ended in a crash at around 4 a.m. in San Antonio.

Investigators recovered an assault rifle and handgun from the car.

Durst underwent surgery and was listed in stable condition.
