Sunshine, heat and humidity will be the theme across Central Texas Saturday & Sunday. Keep an eye on those triple digits and plan your outdoor activities accordingly!
PADUCAH (January 5, 2014) Paducah ISD principal Jan Cantrell, 43, who also coaches the district’s boys’ high school basketball team, was free on $200,000 bond Sunday after he was arrested and charged with multiple counts of indecency with a child and one count of sexual assault.
Cantrell was arrested Friday night, Terry County Sheriff Larry Gilbreath said.
A statement Sunday on the Paducah Independent School District website said Cantrell is on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of an investigation into "allegations brought forth by students."
“Superintendent Troy Parton requests that everyone let the authorities handle the investigation before drawing conclusions. Mr. Parton continues to ask for prayers for the school and community for guidance in this situation,” the posting said.
Cantrell was arrested Friday in Terry County, but the charges originated in Cottle County.
Further details weren’t available Sunday.
