Texas Scout Camp Worker Charged After Camera Found In Staff Shower

BASTROP (July 16, 2014) A man who worked at a Cub Scout Camp about 30 miles east of Austin who was fired after a camera was found hidden in a staff shower where some individuals were recorded surrendered to sheriff’s deputies Wednesday.

Cory Cason, 24, of Round rock was charged with improper photo/video recording without consent, the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office said.

Another staffer discovered the GoPro camera on June 21.

The camp’s director confiscated the camera and contacted authorities.

Cason’s registration with the Boy Scouts of America was revoked and he was fired, Capitol Area Council official Jon Yates said.

The man had worked at the camp since 2006.

The council sent a letter on Tuesday to parents of Cub Scouts who attended camp.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to contact sheriff's officials.
