Texas Sheriff’s Investigator Dies In Off-Duty Motorcycle Accident

RICHMOND (October 29, 2012)--One Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office investigator was killed and another was injured early Sunday in an off-duty motorcycle accident.

Shelley Nicodemus, 45, the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident early Sunday morning and investigator Moses Perez, the driver, suffered head and back injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

Sheriff's officials say the two were on an Interstate 10 feeder road in the Houston suburb of Katy when the accident happened.

Katy police investigated the accident.

Sheriff's officials say the initial report shows that the motorcycle hit a curb and then skidded.

Perez was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery.

He was in stable condition Monday.

Nicodemus had been with the sheriff's office for about 20 years.
