MONTGOMERY (April 21, 2014)
Samuel Paul Acreman, 17, of Montgomery died when the all-terrain vehicle he was riding crashed into a brick culvert while he tried to escape from an officer.
He was pronounced dead at the scene before dawn Saturday.
Acreman, who was not wearing a helmet, was riding the ATV without the lights on when he almost rammed a squad car on routine patrol, Department of Public Safety spokesman Erik Burse said.
The officer pursued the ATV after Acreman refused to stop.
The teenager evidently lost control of the ATV on a curve.
It crashed into the brick culvert in an area near his neighborhood.
Investigators are reviewing the case.
