Texas Teenager Struck, Killed While Running Across Interstate

HOUSTON (July 29, 2012)--A 14-year-old boy was killed late Saturday while trying to run across a busy section of Interstate 10 in Houston, police said.

The teenager was one of several boys who were attempting to dodge traffic as they ran across the highway, police said.

The teenager saw a car coming and tried to turn back.

Police say the driver attempted to avoid hitting the boy, but it was too late.

The boy died at the scene on the East Freeway, near the Normandy exit southwest of downtown Houston, police said.

None of the boys with him was injured.

The driver of the vehicle has not been charged.

Police said the driver was not impaired.
