DALLAS (July 21, 2012)—Police were investigating Saturday after a 3-year-old boy found unconscious in a sweltering van outside of a Dallas daycare center died.
The child was discovered just after 5 p.m. Friday outside Little T's Tiny Tot daycare center in the Pleasant Grove district of southeastern Dallas.
Police Lt. Scott Walton said the child was taken to Baylor University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The boy may have been in the van for two to 2 ½ hours before he was discovered Friday afternoon, authorities said.
Walton says investigators are still trying to determine how the child ended up in the van.
The National Weather Service reports the high temperature in Dallas Friday was 105 degrees.
