Texas Toddler Found Dead In Lake May Have Drowned

WILLIS (August 23, 2012)—A toddler who wandered away Thursday from his grandfather's home and fell into a private lake in Southeast Texas may have drowned, authorities said.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said deputies were sent to a home Thursday morning in Willis where they found paramedics trying to revive the 16-month-old boy, but the child died.

Authorities say the child was outside with his grandfather and wandered across the street from the home while the grandfather was in the garage.

No charges were anticipated, authorities said.

Montgomery County sheriff's investigators are looking into the incident, and an autopsy was ordered.

The names of the toddler and his grandfather weren’t immediately released.
