FORT WORTH (January 2, 2014) One man was charged after a tow truck driver was shot early on New Year's Day as he tried to help three men who were stranded on a freeway in Fort Worth, police said.
The men called for a tow truck at around 4:40 a.m. Wednesday after experiencing car trouble.
The wrecker driver told the men that only one of them could ride in the tow truck's cab and that the other two could not ride in the vehicle as it was being towed, police said.
One of the men pulled out a gun and fired at the tow truck as it drove away.
The shot hit the driver, who was taken to a hospital.
Information about his condition wasn’t available.
Shane Crowson, 26, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting.
