CONWAY (August 20, 2013)--A traffic stop on Interstate 40 in the Texas Panhandle led to the discovery of more than $1 million in heroin and the arrest of a California man, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
The heroin was being transported from Los Angeles to Tulsa, Okla., the DPS said.
The Texas Department of Public Safety late Monday announced the drug bust and said the heroin allegedly was being hauled from Los Angeles to Tulsa, Okla.
Roberto Carrillo Beltran, 27, of Brawley, Calif., was arrested during the traffic stop Saturday near Conway, about 25 miles east of Amarillo after a Texas trooper found bundles with more than 6 pounds of heroin in the passenger side rocker panel of the vehicle.
Beltran was booked into the Carson County jail on a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
