FORT WORTH (July 10, 2014) Jessica Renee Stell, 23, of Lake Worth, who’s accused of being the so-called "Wig Bandit," was jailed Thursday, facing charges in connection with at least seven bank robberies.

Each robbery was committed by a woman wearing fake hair.

Nobody was hurt in the holdups.

Fort Worth police announced the arrest Thursday.

On Wednesday, in a jailhouse interview with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, she said she robbed banks to support her heroin habit.

Cpl. Tracey Knight says Stell, who was arrested last month, has confessed to seven holdups since January.

Detectives with a search warrant recovered undisclosed evidence.

Stell remains in custody facing parole violation and drug warrants, police said, and federal bank robbery charges are pending.
