Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday, rain stays with us, but should taper off by Sunday, the drier of the two days.
FRITCH (May 12, 2014) Firefighters Monday stopped the spread of flames of a wildfire in the Texas Panhandle that destroyed about 90 homes and forced hundreds of people to evacuate.
Crews were mostly responding to hotspots and smoldering buildings Monday evening in a four-square-mile area around Lake Meredith.
No injuries were reported in the fire near the small town of Fritch, some 30 miles northeast of Amarillo.
Hutchinson County's assistant emergency management coordinator Jason Wright says a mobile-home community was at the center of the fire.
