Texas Woman, 19, Accused Of Setting Deadly House Fire

SAN ANTONIO (May 21, 2014) A 19-year-old San Antonio woman is accused of setting her family's house on fire in an alleged insurance scam that left her brother dead and father hurt, police said.

Miranda Herrera was arrested Tuesday night on a warrant charging capital murder and attempted capital murder.

Police also arrested a second suspect who was 16 at the time of the fire in December.

Charges were pending.

Sgt. Javier Salazar says investigators think the fire was set to collect insurance money.

The fire killed David Herrera, Jr., 22, and injured David Herrera, Sr. 48.

The fire initially was investigated as an accident, but a tip led to further investigation.
