GEORGE WEST (February 11, 2013)—Joannie Lopez, 22, of George West, and her children, Christopher and Alonzo, 2, and Andrew, Jr., 3, died after their SUV hit a tree and burst into flames in South Texas, authorities said.

The Department of Public Safety says the four victims were pronounced dead at the scene Sunday morning in the accident, which happened about 12 miles northeast of George West, 60 miles northwest of Corpus Christi.

The woman's husband survived but suffered a broken left arm and left leg, the DPS said.

Investigators said the woman was the only person wearing a seat belt and driver fatigue may have contributed to the accident.
