Texas Woman Dies In Crash Involving Mars Candy Heiress

ALDIE, Va. (October 9, 2013)-- Irene Ellisor, 86, of Huntsville, has died in a crash involving Jacqueline Badger Mars, an owner of Mars Inc., the The Loudoun County, Va., Sheriff's Office said.

Mars, who turns 74 on Thursday, is the daughter of founder of the McLean, Va.-based candy company, which operates a snack foods plant in Waco.

The sheriff's office says was driving a Porsche SUV Friday in Aldie, Va., when the SUV crossed the center line and hit a minivan.

Ellisor was a passenger in the minivan.

She died at the scene, the sheriff's office said.

She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The deadly accident left Mars "filled with sorrow for the loss of life" and the injured, a spokesman said

The involvement of Mars, the company founder's daughter who has been ranked by Forbes Magazine as the world's seventh richest woman, was first reported by Leesburg Today.

The Commonwealth's Attorney is reviewing the matter.
