FORT WORTH (December 16, 2010)—Starting next year, city buses in Fort Worth will not display religious advertisements after an atheist group’s ads on four buses drew criticism.

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority voted Wednesday night to stop accepting religious advertisements.

Board member Gary Havener said he thinks the ads are divisive.

Paid-for ads with the message "Millions of Americans are Good Without God" will continue until their contracts expire later this month.

The Dallas-Fort Worth Coalition of purchased the ads
Reason.

Some ministers had pushed for a boycott of the transit system to protest the ads.
