Texas Deputy Rescues Two Women From Sinking Car

DALLAS (January 30, 2012)—Rockwall County Sheriff’s Deputy Keven Rowan swam to a car as it sank in a Dallas-area lake and saved two women.

Rockwall County sheriff's Lt. David Davis said Monday that nobody was hurt in the incident at Lake Ray Hubbard.

Davis says the women drove through a nearby park early Saturday and evidently got lost, in the dark, while seeking Interstate 30 and ended up driving down a boat ramp.

Rowan was on patrol when he spotted the car in the water.

Patrol car video shows Rowan along the water’s edge yelling, "Can you get out of the car?"

He ended up swimming to the sinking car and using a window-breaking device to shatter the glass.

He then helped both women to shore as the vehicle sank.
