Texas Man Enters Plea In Standoff In Which Deputies Shot

ODESSA (January 4, 2011)—A reclusive Odessa man accused of shooting three sheriff’s deputies and an energy company worker during a 22-hour standoff in September has pleaded not guilty.

Victor White, 55, remained in the Midland County Jail Tuesday in lieu of $2 million bond after pleading not guilty Monday to three counts of attempted capital murder of a peace officer, attempted capital murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

His attorney David Zavoda told the Odessa American that the proceedings "went smooth, the way it should have gone."

White is accused of opening fire Sept. 17 in an alleged dispute over access to a well on his property.

White is accused of getting into a law enforcement officer’s vehicle during the standoff and using the radio to taunt officers.
