BEAUMONT (May 15, 2012)—Paige Parkerson, 20, of Beaumont, was charged with murder Tuesday in the death of her boyfriend.

Authorities say Parkerson was evidently upset that she only got a card and flowers for Mother's Day.

Clifton Barkin, 22, was stabbed to death at the couple's home.

Parkerson was arrested early Monday after calling the victim's mother.

Evetta Wright told the Beaumont Enterprise that she took her son Sunday night to buy flowers and a card.

Wright said she believes Parkerson expected a more expensive gift, such as jewelry.

The couple's two sons were asleep at home during the incident.

Both are now with relatives.
