CAMERON (February 5, 2014) Cameron police are investigating a break-in on Jan 26 that resulted in the theft of several thousand dollars’ worth of high school baseball gear from a storage building.

The gear was stolen from a building at the City of Cameron Baseball Complex, on North Fannin Road that is assigned to the school district for storage of equipment, Police Chief Randy Dixon said.

The building showed no signs of forced entry, Dixon said.

Dixon said one person is being investigated for receiving stolen property, but said the person isn’t believed to have been involved in the theft in which batting helmets, bats, and other baseball equipment worth a total of about $5,000 were taken.

Several thousand dollars’ worth of the stolen equipment has since been recovered and returned to the high school, Dixon said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the theft to contact Cameron police at (254) 697-6574.
