Thirty Firefighters Respond To Explosion, House Fire; Pet Cats Perish

By: Kristin Gordon Email

KILLEEN (March 1, 2013)—Thirty Killeen firefighters responded Friday morning after fire broke out in a modular home following what neighbors described as an explosion.

A woman who was inside the house at 5304 Tiffany Circle escaped without injury when fire broke out at around 10:15 a.m. Friday, but three cats didn't survive.

The fire gutted the rear portion of the house and ignited a grass fire that briefly threatened an adjacent home.

The residents said the home is a total loss.

The fire started in the area of the back porch, but the cause has not been determined.
