Three Arrested For Burglarizing Local Grocery Store

MCGREGOR (April 6, 2014) Three men are now behind bars after the Brookshire Brothers grocery store in McGregor was burglarized early Sunday morning.

According to McGregor Police, a company that handles security for Brookshire's reported that two individuals were inside the store a little after midnight.

When officers arrived on scene, Two men were seen running out of the back entrance of the store, but ran back inside when they saw the officers, a press release from McGregor Police said.

McLennan County sheriff's deputies, Crawford police, and McGregor firefighters arrived on scene to help secure the area.

According to the release, communication was kept between officers and the security company which could view the men through video cameras in the store.

A canine unit from Hewitt Police arrived on scene and eventually an officer made his way inside, but the men were nowhere to be found.

The release says the men wouldn't surrender after police made attempts for several hours.

Officers determined the men might be on the roof, and requested a helicopter from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.

The men were located underneath a refrigeration unit on the store, and were arrested once officers placed a ladder to obtain roof access.

Clinton Chambers, 33, and Chris Chambers, 27, were both arrested and charged with burglary of a building and criminal mischief over $20,000 and under $100,000.

Shortly after their arrests, a McGregor officer noticed a man walking near the Brookshire's store around 4:45 AM.

The release says the man confessed to being a lookout for the two men burglarizing the store.

Shawn Tucker, 32, was arrested and charged with burglary of a building.

According to McGregor Police, Brookshire Brothers' security company said the men may be responsible for burglarizing at least 5 other Brookshire's stores in the North Texas area, including the Lorena store.
