KILLEEN (November 20, 2012)—A 2-year-old girl who fell into a backyard pool Tuesday morning at a home at 3509 Solomon Dr. in Killeen was flown to Scott & White Children’s Hospital in Temple.

The toddler’s mother left the girl alone for a moment at around 9 a.m., and when she returned the girl was in the water, police said.

She pulled the toddler out of the water and began calling for help.

A man who was jogging by the home responded to her cries and began performing CPR, police said.

Police said earlier the mother performed CPR.

Paramedics arrived and took over the effort to revive the girl, who was transported to the parking lot of the Killeen Civic Center, where a medical helicopter was waiting.

The girl had a pulse en route to the hospital, police said, but was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
