WACO (May 16, 2014) A Waco toddler was taken by ambulance to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where he was being treated Friday afternoon for injuries he received when a car struck him.

Police and first responders were sent at around 11:20 a.m. Friday to the 1600 block of Meridian Avenue after a caller reported that the child had been struck, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The driver of the car was headed west on Meridian when the child darted out from between parked cars, Swanton said.

The driver was not cited "because there was nothing he could do," Swanton said.

The toddler's name and information about injuries weren't immediately released Friday afternoon.
